PERL DEVELOPER, uclick

The position of Perl Developer will be responsible for managing and successfully fulfilling the day-to-day operational requests, support requests and participate in the development of new applications. In this role, the Developer provides uclick and its clients with programming support and development for various lines of business systems. The Developer will be responsible for the modification or creation of applications to meet specified requirements. This position is 50% new development and 50% maintenance. There is some client interaction so written and verbal skills are important.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day requests for development and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Work closely with staff in other business areas to ensure satisfaction of uclick’s clients and internal goals.
  • Responsible for development and documentation of code applications, libraries and services.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong Perl programming experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of relational database — MySQL / Postgres preferred
  • Familiar with Linux's command line utilities and bash shell scripting.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge: XML, mod_perl, Apache Webserver Configuration, SQL, CPAN, Perl Module creation.
  • Other helpful experience: Catalyst, Template Toolkit, DBIx::Class, Tomcat, WWW::Mechanize, Systems Administration Skills
  • Ability to learn and work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
  • 1-2 years experience programming in an office environment.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Must be a fast learner, organized, a team player, responsible, dependable and able to deal with stress in a positive way
  • Ability to work in a group environment prioritizing multiple tasks, setting priorities and meeting strict deadlines
