Courageous Youth Loses Battle with Cancer

As a Christmas present in 2004 to Derek Slinger of Kansas City, 14 Universal Press Syndicate cartoonists helped this young man complete an Eagle Scout project that included producing a coloring book for sick kids. Derek was sick, too. And sadly, in August of 2006, he lost his battle with cancer. He was 20 years old.

Derek will be remembered as a special young man who brought many people together in love and generosity.
