Ann Coulter
Political commentator, author and attorney Ann Coulter has been described as "a star in the 24-hour news culture" by Time magazine, adding, "Coulter goes on actual news programs and deploys so much sarcasm and hyperbole that she sounds more like Dennis Miller than Limbaugh." Most satisfying for her, says the UK Guardian, "she has succeeded in driving to fury U.S. liberals, the people she baits for sport."
All seven of her books have been smash best-sellers, six of them No. 1 or No. 2 New York Times best-sellers: "Guilty: Liberal Victims and Their Assault on America" (January 2009); "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans" (October, 2007); "Godless: The Church of Liberalism" (June 2006); "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)" (October 2004); "Treason: Liberal Treachery From the Cold War to the War on Terrorism" (June 2003); "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right" (June 2002); and "High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton" (August 1998).
Ben Shapiro of Townhall.com says: "Coulter isn't simply a terrific writer who makes it impossible to drink while reading her work (this produces the famed Coulter milk-out-the-nose phenomenon). She is also a scholar."
In 2001, Coulter was named one of the top 100 Public Intellectuals by prominent federal judge Richard Posner. Harper's Bazaar described Coulter as "obsessed with protecting civil liberties and free speech."
Called "one of the most popular pundits on MSNBC," where she had her television debut as a regular contributor from 1996-1999, Coulter is a frequent guest on many TV shows, including the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno," "Entertainment Tonight," "The Insider," ABC's ""Good Morning America," NBC's "Today Show," Fox's "The O'Reilly Factor," "Hannity," "Geraldo at Large," "Glenn Beck" and "Red Eye"; HLN's "The Joy Behar Show" and CNN's "Larry King Live."
She has been profiled in such diverse publications as The Guardian (UK), The New York Times, The New York Observer, People magazine, The Washington Post, National Journal, New York magazine, TV Guide, Harper's Bazaar, Elle magazine and Capital Style. She was the April 25, 2005 cover story of Time magazine.
A graduate of Cornell University (with honors) and the University of Michigan Law School, where she was articles editor of the Michigan Law Review, Coulter has worked as an attorney at the Center for Individual Rights (a conservative public-interest law firm), served as legal counsel to Sen. Spencer Abraham on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and worked as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice honors program for outstanding law school graduates. She also has practiced corporate law and clerked for the 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
Coulter's newspaper column is distributed nationally by Universal Uclick. Coulter writes a weekly legal column for the influential conservative weekly Human Events in which she discusses judicial rulings, constitutional issues and legal matters affecting Congress and the executive branch. She is a native of New Canaan, Conn.
