Each week, guided by the art and science of the stars, astrologer Eugenia Last helps readers navigate the stormy seas of life and love by answering their questions.
DEAR EUGENIA: I was born June 10, 1980 at 11 p.m. I recently started dating a guy born Nov. 7, 1983. He's a sweetheart but he is self-conscious because I make more money and I am self-conscious because he is younger. The problem is that I have secretly started seeing an old flame born Nov. 12, 1980. He is the one who got away. My old flame has a girlfriend, as well. I like the new guy but I am curious to see if it can work with my old flame. Should I stay with the new guy or dump him for my old flame? -- CONFUSED
DEAR CONFUSED: This is a no-win situation. Both comparisons show signs of sorrow. Your being the Gemini you are, you will not be able to control your insatiable urge to find out if you can win back your ex-Scorpio. Your young Scorpio will not want you engaging in a relationship, be it platonic or not, with your ex. Don't lose sight of why you and your ex broke up the first time. The same problems still exist.
Your young Scorpio has his natal Venus in the sign Virgo, so age isn't a problem for him. He is more mature when it comes to love than you are. You have your natal Venus in Gemini and tend to be flirtatious which doesn't bode well with your young Scorpio. Your ex has his natal Venus in the sign Libra and, although he can be very charming, he can also be as flirtatious as you. You should probably set your young Scorpio free before you hurt him. Take a moment to enjoy your ex Scorpio's charm and prepare to move on to new lovers. The rest of the year is conducive to love and romance. You match up well to those born under the signs Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius.
DEAR EUGENIA: My four-and-a-half year relationship recently ended with a guy born June 14, 1981 because he wasn't sure if he wanted to be with me. Now he says he does. I have been dating a guy born Nov. 7,1974 for two months and he says he is not ready for a "relationship." Are either of them worth my time and energy? I was born July 5, 1975 at 1 a.m. -- CANCER
DEAR CANCER: You match up to your Gemini and your Scorpio about the same, however, they both have a strong Libra influence in their charts. Unfortunately, commitment or making a decision of such magnitude is difficult for the Scales. They waffle back and forth, weighing the pros and cons and, quite frankly, with the mediocre astrological comparison you have with both, they aren't commitment material. The sad thing is that you do attract the sign Libra, even though it isn't the best for you.
It is obvious that you want to settle down and you will be in a position astrologically to meet someone who is better for you during the second half of the year. Therefore, I suggest you rid yourself of both these men and focus on yourself, your career, socializing, dating and getting into activities that you enjoy. The time will pass quickly, you'll have fun and, before you know it, you will hook up with someone who will complement you in every way. You match up well to those born under the signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces.
DEAR EUGENIA: My mother passed away. I was her caregiver for the past 15 years. I met a man born Nov. 6, 1962. We get along famously and both want to have a family and children. He has been through his share of bad relationships and I am not sure that I can take any more pain right now. I would be deeply indebted to you if you could give me any advice on our relationship and possible future together. I was born March 25, 1970 at 1:31 p.m. Thank you very much. -- ARIES
DEAR ARIES: I'm sorry for your loss. The comparison with your Scorpio is good but does show signs of emotional secrecy. If you can keep the communication flowing, I feel this is a workable relationship. Every relationship takes time and patience, effort and plenty of work. You both have a number of planets in the secretive sign Scorpio and that can make openness a problem but can also be a good thing because it gives you common ground. The bottom line will be how honest you are with one another. Talk is cheap and, in this case, a necessity. I do like the comparison and feel you can make this relationship go the distance.
