Born in 1968, he has been writing his unique, humorous technology column for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin since 2003. It was syndicated by Universal Press in January 2006. A lifelong fan of consumer technology, he writes about personal tech with an emphasis on the hilariously personal, giving his readers both hope and fair warning about what awaits them on "the cutting edge of lazy."

He attended Louisiana Tech University and graduate school at the University of Tennessee, where he drew a daily comic strip, "Cuff & Rubin, " which was a finalist in the 1991 Charles M. Schulz College Cartoonist Contest. Brandao, who has been in the journalism business for more than a dozen years, has worked as an editor and newsroom manager for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin since 1998.
