LIO Launch Most Successful Since The Boondocks

Kansas City, MO  (11/06/2006)  Now at 150 clients since its launch May 15, 2006, LIO has become the strongest comic strip release that Universal Press Syndicate has seen since The Boondocks. In fact, LIO exceeds where The Boondocks’ client list was at six months by about 10 percent.

This fall, LIO came out on top of comic contests in newspapers including the Atlantic City Press, The Hartford Courant and the Dallas Morning News.

Mark Tatulli’s new pantomime comic strip has a client list that also includes the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Houston Chronicle, Chicago Sun-Times, Denver’s Rocky Mountain News, The St. Petersburg Times, Detroit Free Press and The Seattle Times.

“The strip has great potential internationally because there is no language barrier,” says Kerry Slagle, vice president of UPS’ international division, Atlantic Syndication. International clients include Brussels’ newspaper Bel De Morgen, Australia’s Illawara Mercury and Spain’s Trinidad Guardian.

Tatulli is also the cartoonist of Heart of the City, which Universal Press Syndicate continues to syndicate in about 100 newspapers nationwide.
