First Comic Collections Available for Print On Demand At Lulu.com

Kansas City, MO  (07/19/2007)

As part of Universal Press Syndicate’s print on demand partnership, special release books of Clear Blue Water, by Karen Montague-Reyes, and The Fusco Brothers, by J.C. Duffy, are available for purchase on Gocomics.com through Lulu.com.

Earlier this year, Universal Press announced that it had entered a partnership with Lulu.com to print books and calendars using Lulu’s print-on-demand procedure for products that would not otherwise be acquired by Andrews McMeel Publishing.

Clear Blue Water’s book, titled “Circling Normal, A Book About Autism” describes Montague-Reyes’ real-life experience raising an autistic child, as explored in her comic strip. Clear Blue Water features Eve Torres, a biracial writer/artist/mother desperately gripping her sanity while raising three children, including an autistic son, and dealing with the perpetual pre-midlife crises of her Hispanic husband, Manny.

The Fusco Brothers’ book, called “ ‘Come Here Often?’ Bad Pickup Lines and Other Dating Atrocities” is almost a documentary about common relationship faux pas.

Even the pet wolverine, Axel, gets a few smart aleck quotes in. The witty comic describes the bachelor lives of Rolf, Lance, Al, and Lars Fusco, who are constantly failing at love.
