Brian Basset

NATIONALLY SYNDICATED CARTOONIST

Cartoonist Brian Basset was born in Norwalk, Conn., in 1957 and grew up in the Washington, D.C., suburb of McLean, Va. After attending Ohio State University, Brian was hired as the political cartoonist for The Seattle Times, where he worked from 1978 to 1994. In 1984 Brian launched his first comic strip, Adam, or Adam@Home as it is known today. Distributed by Universal Press Syndicate, Adam@Home is about the trials and tribulations of a work-at-home dad, his wife and their three children. Adam@Home appears in more than 200 newspapers and has spawned six cartoon collections by Andrews McMeel Publishing.

In May 2000, Brian began his second foray into the world of syndicated cartoons with the introduction of Red and Rover. A "retro-feel" strip about the extraordinary friendship between a 10-year-old boy and his dog, Red and Rover is syndicated by The Washington Post Writers Group.

Brian, a self-professed "retro" kind of guy, enjoys bowling, baseball played outdoors on real grass, and drinking Yoo-Hoo chocolate drink. He is married and the father of two teen-age boys. Brian and his family live in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains outside of Seattle, Wash.
