Amy Friedman brings stories to life through her imaginative storytelling in her weekly column, Tell Me a Story. Amy was born in 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio, and began writing stories when she was 12, emulating her storytelling father and her favorite writers. She later received a B.A in literature from Barnard College and an M.A. in creative writing from City College, City University, New York. After many moves and travels, Amy finally settled down to a sheep farm outside Kingston, Ontario.

Amy has also published stories in The Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Country Journal, Queen’s Quarterly, Harrowsmith Country Life and other periodicals. She is currently working on novels.

Tell Me a Story, now syndicated around the globe, was such a hit with kids and their parents that Amy began receiving invitations to do storytellings. Her training as an actor (which she studied to help to enhance her writing for stage and screen) inspired her to create lively storytelling sessions. Often musicians accompany her to make the storytelling that much more of an entertaining experience for audiences.

Amy often uses audience members to make her story characters come alive.
