Steve Moore

NATONALLY SYNDICATED CARTOONIST

Cartoonist Steve Moore was born in Denver and grew up in La Canada, Calif., where he collected hundreds of snakes that escaped from cages and roamed the house. To this day, Moore's sister suffers from a nervous tic in her eyelid.

Moore graduated from Oregon State University and completed his master's degree in journalism at the University of Oregon.

While working as an editor at The Maui News in Hawaii, he created the cartoon In the Bleachers. Soon after, Moore moved to the Los Angeles Times.

He resigned his position as executive news editor at the Times in 1996 to concentrate on the cartoon and to work in TV animation. Moore has written scripts for Warner Bros. and Universal Studios. He has several original TV projects currently in development, including an In the Bleachers animated show.

Moore's humor was inspired by his dad, Bob, and cartoonists B. Kliban, Gary Larson, Charles Addams and Gahan Wilson.

He lives in Southern California with his wife, Dru, and three children.

Moore is obsessed with fishing and tries to play golf, baseball, basketball and other sports. But with torn ligaments in both knees, his athletic career is pretty much history.

Moore still keeps critters around the house: a golden retriever, an African Gray parrot and a rat. There are no snakes, but Moore has his eye on one of those Komodo dragons that grow to 10 feet and eat dead goats and have jaws that can crush a Volkswagen.

His wife is developing a nervous tic in her eyelid.
